SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 		













625 ILCS 5/3-104.2 new










    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that an applicant for a certificate of title for a specially constructed vehicle, other than a mobile home, must submit the vehicle to a safety inspection by the Department of Transportation. Provides that the application for a certificate of title under the new provision must be accompanied by a certificate of safety issued by the Department after the inspection. Provides that the applicant must pay an inspection fee of $100, to be deposited into the  Secretary of State Police Services Fund. Provides that the Secretary shall adopt rules for implementing the new provision.

    AN ACT concerning vehicles.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code  is amended  by adding 
5
Section 3-104.2 as follows:

    (625 ILCS 5/3-104.2 new)

    Sec. 3-104.2. Application for certificate of title for a 
8
specially constructed vehicle; inspection.

    (a) The applicant for a certificate of title for a 
10
specially constructed vehicle, other than a mobile home, must 
11
submit the specially reconstructed vehicle for a safety 
12
inspection under Section 13-101 of this Code.

    (b) The application for a certificate of title for a 
14
specially constructed vehicle, other than a mobile home, must 
15
be accompanied by a  certificate of safety furnished by the 
16
Department of Transportation as provided in Section 13-109 of 
17
this Code.

    (c) The applicant for a certificate of title under this 
19
Section must pay an inspection fee of $100, which shall be 
20
deposited into the Secretary of State Police Services Fund and 
21
shall be used for any purpose as deemed appropriate by the 
22
Director of Police-Secretary of State in administering the 
23
responsibilities of the Secretary of State Department of 
24
Police.

    (d) The Secretary shall adopt rules for implementing this 
26
Section.
