| AN ACT concerning environmental protection.
|
| 2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by |
| 5 |
| changing
Section 8 as follows:
|

| Sec. 8. Legislative declaration. The General Assembly |
| 8 |
| finds that
pollution of the air of this State
constitutes a |
| 9 |
| menace to public health and welfare, creates public
nuisances, |
| 10 |
| adds to cleaning costs, accelerates the deterioration of
|
| 11 |
| materials, adversely affects agriculture, business, industry, |
| 12 |
| recreation,
climate, and visibility, depresses property |
| 13 |
| values, and offends the senses.
|
| 14 |
| It is the purpose of this Title to restore, maintain, and |
| 15 |
| enhance the
purity of the air of this State in order to protect |
| 16 |
| health, welfare,
property, and the quality of life and to |
| 17 |
| assure that no air contaminants
are discharged into the |
| 18 |
| atmosphere without being given the degree of
treatment or |
| 19 |
| control necessary to prevent pollution.
