SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 		













20 ILCS 205/205-40.43 new










    Amends the Department of Agriculture Law of the Civil Administrative Code of
Illinois. Authorizes the Department to establish and implement a program to
purchase agriculture conservation easements to protect agricultural land from
development for other uses. Effective immediately.

    AN ACT concerning the Department of Agriculture.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Department of Agriculture Law of the Civil 
5
Administrative
Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section 
6
205-40.43 as follows:

    (20 ILCS 205/205-40.43 new)

    Sec. 205-40.43. Purchase of agricultural conservation 
9
easements. The
Department of Agriculture may establish and 
10
implement a program for the
purchase of
agricultural 
11
conservation easements, including the purchase of
development 
12
rights from willing landowners, for the protection of 
13
agricultural
land from unnecessary conversion to other uses.

    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
15
becoming law.
