093_SR0054 LRB093 11122 KEF 11896 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Vincent 4 Charles Guccione of Alton on January 20, 2003 at 88 years of 5 age; and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. Guccione was born on October 21, 1916 in 7 Wood River to Salvatore and Lucia Guccione; he married the 8 former Betty Cowan on March 13, 1940; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Guccione was a United States World War II 10 Navy veteran, who served as a sailor and cook at Pearl 11 Harbor; he owned and operated Vince Guccione and Sons 12 Construction and Carpentry Co. for 56 years and continued to 13 assist in a semi-retired capacity; and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. Guccione was a lifetime member of Carpenters 15 Union Local 377 and a long-time member of Saints Peter and 16 Paul Catholic Church, the St. Vincent DePaul Society of the 17 Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1308 of Alton, the 18 Fraternal Order of Alton Eagles 254, the Wood River Moose 19 Lodge 1349, the Alton Area Landmarks Association, the Alton 20 Museum of History and Art, and the Alton Historical Society; 21 and 22 WHEREAS, In his youth, Mr. Guccione was a speed skater 23 and a golden glove boxer; he loved to dance and was a 24 tireless worker; and 25 WHEREAS, Mr. Guccione will be lovingly remembered as a 26 loving father and a faithful husband; his passing will be 27 deeply felt by his friends and family, especially his nine 28 children, David Guccione, Mary Guccione Olson and her 29 husband, Steve, Paul Guccione, Joe Guccione and his wife Kay, 30 Lucia Guccione Warner and her husband, Stanley, Peter 31 Guccione, Lillian Guccione Bates and her husband, Corey, -2- LRB093 11122 KEF 11896 r 1 Elizabeth Guccione Gramaglia, and Laura Guccione; his 28 2 grandchildren; his 7 great-grandchildren; and his many other 3 family members and friends; and 4 WHEREAS, Mr. Guccione was preceded in death by his wife, 5 Betty; his parents, Salvatore and Lucia Guccione; his four 6 brothers, Angelo, Jack, Samuel, and Anthony Guccione; and his 7 sister, Josephine Scalese; therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of 10 Vincent Charles Guccione, along with all who knew and loved 11 him, and offer our sincere condolences to his family; and be 12 it further 13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 14 presented to the family of Vincent Charles Guccione with our 15 deepest sympathy.
