 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn  of the death of Nicholas
 4    DiStefano on March 17, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. DiStefano was born  on  July  28,  1913;  he
 6    married Doris Smith; and

 7        WHEREAS,  Mr.  DiStefano  had  worked  for  the  State of
 8    Illinois at the Illinois  Children's  Hospital  as  the  head
 9    storekeeper; the storekeeper supplied the Children's Hospital
10    and the University Hospital with medical supplies; he retired
11    in 1984; and

12        WHEREAS,  Following  his retirement, Mr. DiStefano worked
13    for his son, Nick, at The Dugout; he brought  to  The  Dugout
14    his   mother's   recipes  for  red  sauce,  beef  gravy,  and
15    meatballs;  his  recipe  for  The  Dugout's  pepper  and  egg
16    sandwich was  named  one  of  the  best  in  Chicago  by  the
17    Sun-Times; and

18        WHEREAS,  Mr.  DiStefano  loved working with children; he
19    was known to give ice  cream  cakes  to  the  kids  on  their
20    birthdays just to see them smile; he regularly cooked for the
21    spaghetti  dinners  and  pancake breakfasts of Cub Scout Pack
22    3683; and

23        WHEREAS, The  passing  of  Nicholas  DiStefano  has  been
24    deeply  felt  by  many,  especially  his  sons,  Nicholas and
25    Michael; his  stepsons,  Fred  Cappetto,  Joe  Cappetto,  and
26    Dennis (Gloria) Cappetto; and his stepdaughter, Angela (John)
27    Parnitzke;  he was the brother of the late Mary DiStefano and
28    Josephine  Baslie,  and  the  uncle  of  Carol  Dziekanowski;
29    therefore, be it

30        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL
31    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing

 1    of Nicholas DiStefano and extend to his  friends  and  family
 2    our sincere condolences; and be it further

 3        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 4    presented  to  the  family  of  Nicholas  DiStefano   as   an
 5    expression of our deepest sympathy during their time of loss.
