093_SR0199 LRB093 12782 KEF 17979 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy 4 Ruth Davis Curry on July 15, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry was one of eleven children born to 6 Tobe and Roxie Davis on June 2, 1933 in Georgia; she was a 7 highly educated woman, having attended college at Morris 8 Brown in Atlanta, Georgia, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Home 9 Economics at Fort Valley State in Fort Valley, Georgia, and a 10 degree in Higher Education/Administration from St. Xavier 11 University in Chicago; and 12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry was married to Lacey Kirk Curry on 13 September 28, 1952 at Wolf Creek County Line Baptist Church, 14 and was the mother of four children, Lacey Kirk Seneca, 15 Donald Eugene "D.C.", Theresa Lynne, and Augustus Tobe Curry; 16 and 17 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry was a housewife for fifty-one years, 18 while still maintaining an educational career at elementary 19 schools in Georgia, Colorado, Utah, and Illinois, and high 20 schools in California; in addition, she was Director of 21 Emmanuel Christian School in Chicago; and 22 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry's hobbies included sewing, cooking, 23 flowers, gardening, and traveling; her aspirations were the 24 glory of God, the well being of her husband, family and 25 friends, the education of children, the hopes and dreams of 26 young married couples, and the care of the aged, which 27 prompted her to organize the "Golden Agers" of her church; 28 and 29 WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry's passing will be deeply felt by many 30 especially her husband, L.K. Curry; her four children and 31 their spouses, Lacy Seneca, Donald Eugene and Veronica, -2- LRB093 12782 KEF 17979 r 1 Theresa Curry and Rev. Kenneth Battle, and Augustus Tobe and 2 Tonya; her nine grandchildren, Seneca Charles, Julius Clark, 3 Brittany Ryan, Jillian Anice, Henry Louis, John Lacy, and 4 Delane Monique; her brothers Ralph (Jessie) Davis, Rudolph 5 (Annette) Davis, and David Davis; and her many nieces and 6 nephews; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of 9 Dorothy Ruth Davis Curry; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 11 presented to the family of Dorothy Ruth Davis Curry as an 12 expression of our sorrow for their loss.
