093_SR0220 LRB093 12634 KEF 18067 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Donald 4 Lawrence Moore of Naperville on July 15, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Moore grew up in Cincinnati, where he was a 6 graduate of Walnut Hills High School; after earning a 7 bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering from the 8 University of Cincinnati in 1952, he worked for General 9 Electric for 17 years; he worked in the Cincinnati and Kansas 10 City offices and at the nuclear propulsion division in Oak 11 Ridge, Tennessee before being transferred to the company's 12 Naperville office; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Moore was president of Instruments and 14 Technology in Naperville, a manufacturer's rep company, which 15 he began in 1972 after leaving General Electric; he 16 volunteered Wednesday's at the DuPage Children's Museum for 17 several years, assisting mostly in the Construction House, 18 where children learn to build things out of wood and other 19 materials; in his role as an exhibit facilitator, he was 20 credited for his ability to encourage learning; and 21 WHEREAS, Mr. Moore was also a member of the American 22 Society of Metals, where he served as regional secretary and 23 was co-chair and secretary of the quenching and cooling 24 committee; he was an active member of Knox Presbyterian 25 Church and the Hall of Famers; he had been an elder in a 26 Kansas City Presbyterian church; and 27 WHEREAS, Donald Lawrence Moore's passing will be deeply 28 felt by his wife, Shirlee; his three daughters, Holly 29 Kowlaski, Amy McKee, and Terry Thompson; and his seven 30 grandchildren; therefore, be it 31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL -2- LRB093 12634 KEF 18067 r 1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of 2 Donald Lawrence Moore along with all who knew and loved him 3 and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; 4 and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 6 presented to the family of Donald Lawrence Moore as an 7 expression of our deepest sympathy.
