093_SR0256 LRB093 13488 RAH 18816 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois learned with regret of the death of Derrick Lewis on 4 Saturday September 20, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Born on May 4, 1955, Mr. Lewis attended city 6 public schools and graduated from East St. Louis Senior High 7 School in June 1973; and 8 WHEREAS, A sports enthusiast, Mr. Lewis was a diehard St. 9 Louis Cardinals and Rams fan and an avid league bowler for 10 more than 20 years; he was a member of the Southern Cross 112 11 Masonic Lodge and a Habitat For Humanity volunteer; and 12 WHEREAS, The passing of Derrick Lewis has been deeply 13 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his daughter, 14 Ashley Sierra; his mother, Marcella Lewis Phillips; his 15 father, Arthur Perry; his paternal grandmother, Olivia 16 McNuckles; his brothers, Gregory D. (Bessie R.) Lewis Sr., 17 Reginald Perry, and Arthur Sargent; his sisters, Donna K. 18 Lewis, Pamela Sargent, Artrice Perry, and Patrice 19 Dickens-Fields; his uncles, Lester L. Lewis Sr. and James 20 (Adeline) Lewis Sr.; his aunts, Annie McCraney, Lillie (Carl 21 Sr.) Prude, Debra McNuckles, Eloise Lewis, and Dortha Lewis; 22 his great-aunt, Laura T. Crowell; his extended family, the 23 Rush/Lawson family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins 24 and friends; and 25 WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his maternal 26 grandparents, Menion and Trudy B. Lewis; an uncle, Joe W. 27 Lewis; an aunt, Jewell, nee Williams, Lewis; and another 28 uncle and aunt, Robert L. and Jewel Delaney; therefore, be it 29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 31 all who knew and loved him, the death of Derrick Lewis; and -2- LRB093 13488 RAH 18816 r 1 be it further 2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 3 presented to the family of Derrick Lewis as an expression of 4 our sincerest condolences.
