| WHEREAS, The members of Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| were saddened to learn of the death of James "Jim" Cruse of |
| 4 |
| Kewanee on October 11, 2003; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Cruse was born on June 16, 1920 in Magnolia, |
| 6 |
| Kentucky the son of Biven and Margaret (Harbin) Cruse; he came |
| 7 |
| to Illinois as a young man and was schooled in Castleton and |
| 8 |
| graduated from Wyoming High School; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He married Lona Mae Jacobs on November 13, 1942 in |
| 10 |
| Phoenix City, Alabama; she preceded him in death; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Cruse was an Army veteran of World War II and |
| 12 |
| was taken as a prisoner of war two times, once in France and |
| 13 |
| also in Germany; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Cruse worked at the Kewanee Works Walworth |
| 15 |
| Co., Penberthy Co. in Prophetstown, and International |
| 16 |
| Harvester Co.; he retired in 1979; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Cruse was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars |
| 18 |
| (VFW) Post 8078 of Kewanee, the Kewanee American Legion, the |
| 19 |
| Flemish American Club of Kewanee, and the Moose Club of |
| 20 |
| Kewanee; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, James Cruse's passing will be deeply felt by many, |
| 22 |
| especially his three daughters, Mrs. Wes (Judy) McNaught, Mrs. |
| 23 |
| Ken (Gail) Knowles, and Mrs. Spike (Terry) Young; his son, Greg |
| 24 |
| (Lynette) Cruse; his sister, Ella Catton; his 20 grandchildren, |
| 25 |
| Jamie, Julie, Jimmy, Jeff, Wesley, Lisa, Gordon, Harvey, |
| 26 |
| Marilyn, Jason, Kendra, Keri, Traci, Niki, Chad, Mark, Ty, |
| 27 |
| Scott, Chris, and Kelly; and his 18 great-grandchildren; and
|
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by three sons, a |
