| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |

| learned with regret of the death of Denny Best of Winter Haven, |
4 |
| Florida, on September 25, 2003; and |
5 |
| WHEREAS, Denny Best was born on May 29, 1950 in Springfield |
6 |
| to John and Ann Best; he attended Lincoln Land Community |
7 |
| College and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; and |
8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Best was a professional musician and played |
9 |
| drums for several bands including Cicero Slim & the WW III |
10 |
| Blues Band, Dr. Hector & the Groove Injectors, Midnight |
11 |
| Creepers, Big Twist & the Mellow Fellows, Coal Kitchen, Cat St. |
12 |
| Blues, Signets, Rock Bottom, Funky Blues Messiahs, T. Hart |
13 |
| Trio, Raindear Army, Bird Dog Bobby, Nighthawk, Outlaw, and Taj |
14 |
| Mahal; he recorded with Ernie Lancaster, Lazy Lester, Raful |
15 |
| Neal, Kenny Neal, Lucky Peterson, Alex Taylor, Noble Watts, and |
16 |
| Rufus Thomas; he was a former employee of the House of |
17 |
| Representatives of the State of Illinois; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Denny Best has been deeply felt by |
19 |
| many, especially his daughters, Shana and Chelsea; his brother |
20 |
| and sister, Bob and Sue; his nieces, Kiersten and Kathryn Best; |
21 |
| and his nephews, Steven and Scott Koehler and John Miller; |
22 |
| therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |
24 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
25 |
| Denny Best and extend our sincerest condolences to his friends, |
26 |
| family, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
|
27 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
28 |
| presented to the family of Denny Best as an expression of our |
29 |
| deepest sympathy.
