| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with great sadness of the passing of Eugene G. Griffin |
4 |
| of Aurora on November 22, 2003; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was born on August 24, 1934 in |
6 |
| Evanston to Timothy J. and Bernadette (Lavin) Griffin; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin graduated from high school in |
8 |
| Knoxville, Tennessee and attended Notre Dame University; while |
9 |
| at Notre Dame, he was the sports editor for the Golden Dome |
10 |
| yearbook and was a member of the editorial board of the Notre |
11 |
| Dame Lawyer, a student law publication; in 1957, he received a |
12 |
| bachelor's degree, graduating with honors, and in 1958, he |
13 |
| graduated from the Notre Dame Law School; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was united in marriage to Sue Corcoran |
15 |
| in 1958 in Sibley, Iowa; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Prior to establishing his law practice in Aurora, |
17 |
| Mr. Griffin worked for the legal division of the Tennessee |
18 |
| Valley Authority; he was later appointed as a legal assistant |
19 |
| to the Honorable Raymond J. Kelly, a member of the U.S. |
20 |
| District Court, for the disposition of litigation before the |
21 |
| Alaskan Federal Court as Alaska was transitioning from |
22 |
| territorial to statehood status; in addition, he served as an |
23 |
| assistant Kane County State's Attorney and subsequently was |
24 |
| associated with several law firms during his legal career; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin enjoyed coaching and watching his |
26 |
| children play sports; he was a Past President of the West |
27 |
| Aurora Sports Booster Club; and
|
28 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Eugene G. Griffin has been deeply |
29 |
| felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Sue |
