| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| were saddened to learn of the death of Joseph Jurkovac of |
| 4 |
| Waukegan on January 11, 2004; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Jurkovac worked as a maintenance supervisor |
| 6 |
| for US Steel Corporation for 35 years until he retired in 1977; |
| 7 |
| and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was an Army veteran of World War II and served |
| 9 |
| as a combat engineer in the European conflict; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Jurkovac was a member of Waukegan Moose Lodge |
| 11 |
| #706, the American Legion Post #28 Homer Dahringer, Veterans of |
| 12 |
| Foreign Wars of Waukegan, US Steel Workers Retirement Club, |
| 13 |
| Slovenic National Home, and A.A.R.P., and was a charter member |
| 14 |
| of the American Croatian Waukegan Tamburitzans; in addition, he |
| 15 |
| was a former member of Mother of God Church, where he served as |
| 16 |
| an usher, and was most recently a member of Queen of Peace |
| 17 |
| Church; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Joseph Jurkovac will be deeply felt |
| 19 |
| by many, especially his children, Joseph (Linda) Jurkovac, John |
| 20 |
| (Judi) Jurkovac, Paul (Linda) Jurkovac, and Diane (Jim) Pyles; |
| 21 |
| a very special foster child, Tamara Di Lorenzo (Saucer); his 22 |
| 22 |
| grandchildren; his 29 great-grandchildren; and his special |
| 23 |
| dog, "Sabre"; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane |
| 25 |
| (Turpel); his daughter, Suzanne Jurkovac; his parents, Paul and |
| 26 |
| Monika (nee Zalec); his brother, Emil Jurkovac; his four |
| 27 |
| sisters, Josephine Purvis, Amelia Joslun, Velma Levak, and |
| 28 |
| Stephanie Jurkovac; therefore, be it
