| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened |
| 3 |
| to learn of the death of United States Marine Corps helicopter |
| 4 |
| pilot Capt. Adam Miller of Midolothian on January 22, 2004; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Capt. Miller was among the four people tragically |
| 6 |
| killed when a military helicopter crashed during a training |
| 7 |
| exercise at a Camp Pendelton, a base north of San Diego; he was |
| 8 |
| part of a detachment from Marine Light Attack Helicopter |
| 9 |
| Squadron 169, attached to the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron |
| 10 |
| 166, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary |
| 11 |
| Force; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Capt. Miller had returned from Iraq in August and |
| 13 |
| was set to redeploy there in June; he had previously served in |
| 14 |
| Afghanistan; and |
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Capt. Miller graduated from Oak Forest High |
| 16 |
| School, where he played basketball; he was a member of a group |
| 17 |
| of friends that his parents, Joe and Sandra Miller, dubbed "The |
| 18 |
| Brainiacs"; and |
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Capt. Miller's military career started after he |
| 20 |
| earned a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering in 1996 |
| 21 |
| from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; it was at |
| 22 |
| college that he met Nicole, his wife of three years and an |
| 23 |
| Aurora native; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, Upon graduation, he was accepted into the Marines' |
| 25 |
| officer training school in Quantico, Virginia, and became a |
| 26 |
| lieutenant in 1997; he earned his wings in 1998 and his mother |
| 27 |
| was honored to pin them on during the ceremony; and
|
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Capt. Adam Miller will be deeply |
| 29 |
| felt by many, especially his wife, Nicole; his parents, Joseph |
