| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of John M. |
| 4 |
| Kerivan, Jr., long time resident and former Alderman of the |
| 5 |
| City of Northlake, on April 11, 2004; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, John M. Kerivan, Jr., began his service to |
| 7 |
| Northlake as the Third Ward Alderman in 1973 at age 27, making |
| 8 |
| him one of the youngest persons to be elected to office in |
| 9 |
| Northlake; and |
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Kerivan was successfully reelected Third Ward |
| 11 |
| Alderman in 1977, 1981, and 1985, and in 1991 he was elected to |
| 12 |
| represent the First Ward; he was a candidate for Mayor in 1993; |
| 13 |
| and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He saw many changes in Northlake during his twenty |
| 15 |
| years as Alderman, seeing the city going from having no curbs |
| 16 |
| or storm sewers to having them installed during the city's |
| 17 |
| ambitious improvement program in the 1980s; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Kerivan supported efforts to helping control |
| 19 |
| flooding in the city, which made commercial and industrial |
| 20 |
| development possible; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Kerivan's priority as an Alderman was to make |
| 22 |
| sure that city services were available to residents, and he was |
| 23 |
| always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone; and |
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of John M. Kerivan, Jr., will be |
| 25 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Mary Lou; his |
| 26 |
| children, John M. Kerivan III and his fiancé Bev, Dawn M. and |
| 27 |
| her husband Jim Evans, Denise M. Farmer and her fiancé Mike, |
| 28 |
| and Anthony M. Kerivan and his wife Susan; his grandchildren, |
| 29 |
| David and Joseph Farmer, Jaimie and Samantha Evans, and |
