| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| were saddened to learn of the death of August "Gus" Selle of |
| 4 |
| Mundelein on May 10, 2004; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, August "Gus" Selle was born July 23, 1920, in |
| 6 |
| Chicago, and first came to the Lake County area as a teenager |
| 7 |
| during the Depression, working at the Greenbrier and Terhune |
| 8 |
| farms, in what is present day Green Oaks; and |
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Selle was an Army veteran of World War II, and |
| 10 |
| served with the famed 45th Infantry (Thunderbird) Division in |
| 11 |
| North Africa, Sicily and Italy; he was awarded the Bronze Star |
| 12 |
| and Purple Heart; following the war, he returned to |
| 13 |
| Libertyville, where he met his wife of nearly 50 years, |
| 14 |
| Virginia (nee Laycock); and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, He was also a retired employee of the Eric |
| 16 |
| Bolander Company in Libertyville; and a member of the Mundelein |
| 17 |
| American Legion Post; and |
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of August "Gus" Selle will be deeply |
| 19 |
| felt by many, especially his two sons, Charles (Paulette) Selle |
| 20 |
| and Craig (Vicki) Selle; his daughter, Laurel (Jeremy) Palmer; |
| 21 |
| his seven grandchildren; his two great grandchildren; his |
| 22 |
| sister; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and |
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; |
| 24 |
| his parents, August and Agnes Selle; a brother; and a sister; |
| 25 |
| therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |
| 27 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of |
| 28 |
| August "Gus" Selle along with all who knew and loved him and |
| 29 |
| extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and |
