| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Kevin T. Kendrigan of |
| 4 |
| Arlington Heights on Monday, June 28, 2004; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Kendrigan was born on February 23, 1946, in |
| 6 |
| Chicago, to Michael J. and Mary A. (nee Kelly) Kendrigan; he |
| 7 |
| married Catherine A. Nemchock on September 12, 1970; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Kendrigan served as director of the Northwest |
| 9 |
| Special Recreation Association (NWSRA) from its inception in |
| 10 |
| 1974 until his retirement in December of 2003; the NWSRA is a |
| 11 |
| cooperative of 16 park districts and provides community access |
| 12 |
| and leisure services for individuals experiencing a disabling |
| 13 |
| condition; he was the president of the Special Leisure Services |
| 14 |
| Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides |
| 15 |
| additional resources to support the efforts of the NWSRA and |
| 16 |
| the Area 18 Special Olympics program; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Kendrigan was a past president of the |
| 18 |
| Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the |
| 19 |
| Illinois Special Olympics; he was a member of the Joint |
| 20 |
| Legislative Committee of Illinois Association of Park |
| 21 |
| Districts, a member of the Illinois Parks and Recreation |
| 22 |
| Association, a former member of the National Recreation and |
| 23 |
| Park Association, and an active member of the St. Viator |
| 24 |
| Athletic Association; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Kevin Kendrigan has been deeply |
| 26 |
| felt by many, especially his wife, Catherine A. (nee Nemchock); |
| 27 |
| his children, Brendan and Caitlin; his siblings, Mary Lou |
| 28 |
| (James Wagman) Kendrigan, Peggy (Willie Peterson) Kendrigan, |
| 29 |
| Cathy (Peter Abbott) Kendrigan, Michael (Jackie) Kendrigan, |
| 30 |
| and James Kendrigan; and his nieces, Leslie Kendrigan, Erin |
| 31 |
| Kendrigan and Maura Riordan; therefore, be it |
