| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were deeply |
| 3 |
| saddened to learn of the death of Charles Aronin Lippitz of |
| 4 |
| Evanston on July 1, 2004; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Aronin Lippitz was born on September 18, |
| 6 |
| 1926, in Chicago; he received a bachelor's degree from the |
| 7 |
| University of Chicago and a law degree from the University of |
| 8 |
| Chicago Law School in 1951; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lippitz's professional accomplishments
began |
| 10 |
| with a career in tax, estate planning, and
trust law; he was a |
| 11 |
| partner in Levenfeld, Kanter, Baskes, and Lippitz; he served
as |
| 12 |
| president of the Federal Bar Association (7th Circuit) for many |
| 13 |
| years and maintained a leadership position on the Chicago |
| 14 |
| Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, In 1986, Mr. Lippitz left the practice of law to |
| 16 |
| become a film producer, winning the award for Best Family Film |
| 17 |
| at the 1994 Santa Clarita International Film Festival for his |
| 18 |
| feature "Season of Change"; he also worked with Zev Braun, a |
| 19 |
| West Coast film producer, on various film projects; in 1995, |
| 20 |
| Mr. Lippitz won an Emmy Award as executive producer of the PBS |
| 21 |
| television documentary, "Frank Yankovic: America's Polka |
| 22 |
| King"; he also served as vice president and a producer of |
| 23 |
| "Enter Here," a nationally distributed vocational videotape |
| 24 |
| series for high school students; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, More recently, Mr. Lippitz wrote plays, acted, |
| 26 |
| co-chaired Northlight Theatre's Open Door Ensemble, and served |
| 27 |
| as co-vice president of The Shakespeare Project of Chicago; his |
| 28 |
| play "Different Music" was performed at Circle Theatre's New |
| 29 |
| Plays Festival 2003; and
|
| 30 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lippitz was very active in the Evanston Fourth |
