SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Edward Koranda, CDR-USNR,
4 of Zion on Monday, August 30, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Koranda was born on June 30, 1918 in Berwyn;
6 he graduated from Northern Illinois University with a
7 bachelor's degree and Northwestern University with a master's
8 degree; on April 11, 1963, he married Lorna V. Plummer Whitten;
9 and
 
10     WHEREAS, For 38 years, Mr. Koranda taught chemistry and
11 physics at Zion-Benton Township High School; he was a member of
12 the Lake County Retired Teachers Association, and a former
13 Winthrop Harbor and Zion School Board Member; he was involved
14 in the Veteran's Association of U.S.S. Iowa, North Shore and
15 Chicago Military Officers Association, Navy League, and the
16 Fleet Reserve Association; he served as a past board member of
17 Family Services, was a founding member of the Winthrop Harbor
18 Volunteer Fire Fighters, a former Waste Management Board
19 member, and was a retired officer of the U.S. Navy; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Koranda has been deeply felt by
21 many, especially his wife, Lorna V. Plummer Whitten Koranda;
22 his daughters, Janet Whitten (Owen) Kinsman, Kris Koranda
23 (Gale) Moline, and Patti Koranda (Bob) Wills; his
24 grandchildren, Tami Kinsman (Dan) Imbery and Rob Kinsman; and
25 his great grandchildren, Alyssa and Hailey Imbery; he was
26 preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Schwab; his step
27 son, Robert Whitten; his brothers, Tony, Vincent, and Erwin
28 Koranda; and his parents, Anton and Josepha (Knez) Koranda;
29 therefore, be it
 
30     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
31 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1 Edward Koranda, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
2 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
3 further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Mr. Koranda as an expression of our
6 sincerest condolences.
