| SENATE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Morton College, the second-oldest community |
| 3 |
| college in Illinois, has ably served its community, enabling |
| 4 |
| thousands of students to prosper since 1924; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Morton College District 527 has changed |
| 6 |
| profoundly in the recent past, evolving as an institution with |
| 7 |
| the greatest percentage of Latino students of any public |
| 8 |
| college or university in Illinois; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The Board, the President, and all others |
| 10 |
| associated with Morton College have embraced its changing |
| 11 |
| community and have contributed toward its considerable and |
| 12 |
| profound renewal in becoming bilingual and inclusive, making |
| 13 |
| every effort to serve all persons in its District; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, The College, while in the midst of transforming |
| 15 |
| itself in every way, is making dramatic improvements in its |
| 16 |
| physical plant, most specifically with a fully redesigned and |
| 17 |
| constructed library, new student service areas, new space for |
| 18 |
| ESL, as well as new signage, to name a few; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, The College has been especially exemplary in |
| 20 |
| Latino employment, currently with the greatest percentage of |
| 21 |
| Latino college administration of any Illinois public college or |
| 22 |
| university; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, The College has made considerable strides in |
| 24 |
| self-study with a determination to help all students succeed by |
| 25 |
| fostering a positive internal climate for staff and students |
| 26 |
| alike; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Morton |
