| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Robert Irl Blackford of Alton died on November 16, |
3 |
| 2004; and
|
4 |
| WHEREAS, He was born January 22, 1924 in Dennis, Kentucky, |
5 |
| to Robert Wyatt and Effie (Ragar) Blackford; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, He married the former Ollie Mae Jenkins in Tarpon |
7 |
| Springs, Florida on April 5, 1942; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the |
9 |
| Army from 1942 to 1945; a carpenter for Jun Construction, he |
10 |
| retired in 1986 after 20 years of service; after his |
11 |
| retirement, he was a painter, handyman, and carpenter; a member |
12 |
| of Calvary Baptist Church since 1946, he later joined Alton |
13 |
| First Southern Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a |
14 |
| member of the choir; he played the guitar, piano, and bass, and |
15 |
| was noted for his wonderful sense of humor; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; |
17 |
| and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Robert Blackford will be felt by |
19 |
| all who knew and loved him, especially his sons, Lindell |
20 |
| (Sandra) Blackford and Rick (Cheryl) Blackford; his |
21 |
| grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; and his brother, Irvin |
22 |
| Morgan; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
25 |
| Robert Irl Blackford and we extend to his family our thoughts |
26 |
| and prayers during this difficult time; and be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
