| SENATE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, John G. Keller, a retired farmer who helped make |
| 3 |
| Collinsville famous for horseradish, died December 27, 2004 at |
| 4 |
| the age of 85; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born into one of Collinsville's founding |
| 6 |
| families and grew up on the family farm, which dates to 1895; |
| 7 |
| as a child, he and his brothers tended the fields and the |
| 8 |
| labor-intensive horseradish crop; Mr. Keller and his brothers |
| 9 |
| continued to grow horseradish and grain on the family farm |
| 10 |
| until they retired in 1988; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The Kellers were among the people who organized |
| 12 |
| the International Horseradish Festival in Collinsville in |
| 13 |
| 1988, and John Keller tied for first place in the |
| 14 |
| horseradish-eating contest in the festival's inaugural year; |
| 15 |
| and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill |
| 17 |
| Keller; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of John G. Keller will be felt by all |
| 19 |
| who knew and loved him, especially his brother, Louis Keller; |
| 20 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |
| 22 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 23 |
| John G. Keller and we extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 24 |
| family and friends; and be it further
|
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 26 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
| 27 |
| sympathy.
