| AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 54

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 54 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 27 as follows: |

| (745 ILCS 49/27 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 27. Exemption from civil liability for assistance to |
| 8 |
| law enforcement officers during law enforcement critical |
| 9 |
| incident, tactical training, or tactical operations. Any |
| 10 |
| physician licensed under the Medical Practice Act of 1987 to |
| 11 |
| practice medicine in all its branches or licensed to practice |
| 12 |
| the treatment of human ailments in any other state or territory |
| 13 |
| of the United States, any physician assistant licensed under |
| 14 |
| the Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987, any nurse |
| 15 |
| licensed under the Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act, |
| 16 |
| any paramedic, any emergency medical technician, or any First |
| 17 |
| Responder who, in good faith and without fee, or with a fee not |
| 18 |
| to exceed $1, to a person, provides assistance to a law |
| 19 |
| enforcement officer while the officer is engaged in law |
| 20 |
| enforcement critical incident, tactical training, or tactical |
| 21 |
| operations shall not, as a result of his or her acts or |
| 22 |
| omissions, except willful or wanton misconduct on the part of |
| 23 |
| the person, in providing the care, be liable for civil |
| 24 |
| damages.".
