| 1, on page 3, line 22, after "500,000,", by inserting |

| "beginning August 15, 2006,"; and

| on page 2, line 25, after the period, by inserting the |

| following: |

| "With respect to teachers employed prior to August 15, 2006 by |
| 9 |
| a charter school that is operating in a city having a |
| 10 |
| population exceeding 500,000, residency within the city must |
| 11 |
| not be considered in determining a teacher's employment or |
| 12 |
| compensation or whether to retain, promote, assign, or transfer |
| 13 |
| a teacher."; and

| 14 |
| on page 4, line 9, by replacing "2005" with "2006".
