|
Amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 and the Adoption Act. Provides that in
any proceeding on a petition (1) seeking a finding that a minor is neglected,
abused or dependent or (2) seeking a finding that a parent is unfit and that it
is in the best interest of the child to terminate parental rights, the parent
may demand a trial by jury.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Juvenile Court Act of 1987 is amended by |
| 5 |
| adding Section
2-13.2 as follows:
|

| (705 ILCS 405/2-13.2 new)

| Sec. 2-13.2. Jury trial. In any proceeding on a petition |
| 8 |
| (1) seeking a
finding that a minor is neglected, abused, or |
| 9 |
| dependent, or (2) seeking a
finding that a parent is unfit and |

| that it is in the best interest of the child
to terminate |
| 11 |
| parental rights, under this Act or the Adoption
Act, a parent |

| Section 10. The Adoption Act is amended by adding Section |
