AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 384

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 384 as follows:

on page 3, line 2, before "Beginning", by inserting the 
4
following:

"Beginning on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 
6
94th General Assembly, prior to completing an approved teacher 
7
preparation program, a preservice education candidate must 
8
satisfactorily pass the test of subject matter knowledge in the 
9
discipline in which he or she will be certified to teach.  The 
10
teacher preparation program may require passage of the test of 
11
subject matter knowledge at any time during the program, 
12
including prior to student teaching."; and
 
13
on page 4, immediately below line 14, by inserting the 
14
following:

    "Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
16
becoming law.".
