| AN ACT concerning regulation.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by |
| 5 |
| changing Section 143.01 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (215 ILCS 5/143.01) (from Ch. 73, par. 755.01)
|
| 7 |
| Sec. 143.01. (a) A provision in a policy of vehicle |
| 8 |
| insurance described in Section 4
excluding coverage for bodily |
| 9 |
| injury to members of the
the family of the
insured shall not be |
| 10 |
| applicable when a third party acquires a right
of contribution |
| 11 |
| against a member of the injured person's family.
|
| 12 |
| (b) A provision in a policy of vehicle insurance excluding |
| 13 |
| coverage for
bodily injury to members of the family of the |
| 14 |
| insured shall not be applicable
when any person not in the |
| 15 |
| household of the insured was driving the vehicle
of the insured |
| 16 |
| involved in the accident which is the subject of the claim or |
| 17 |
| lawsuit.
|
| 18 |
| This subsection (b) applies to any action filed on or after |
| 19 |
| its effective date.
|
