Amends the Landlord and Tenant Act. Provides that a landlord must comply with standards adopted by a county or multiple county health department concerning the presence of lead paint in buildings. Provides that a landlord who fails to comply is guilty of a Class C misdemeanor. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning property.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Landlord and Tenant Act is amended by adding |
5 |
| Section 10 as follows: |

| (765 ILCS 705/10 new) |
7 |
| Sec. 10. Lead paint in buildings. |
8 |
| (a) A lessor of real property containing a building or |
9 |
| other structure must comply with all applicable standards |
10 |
| relating to the presence of lead paint in buildings or other |
11 |
| structures that have been adopted by the county or multiple |
12 |
| county health department having jurisdiction over the |
13 |
| property. |

| (b) A lessor who violates subsection (a) is guilty of a |
15 |
| Class C misdemeanor.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
17 |
| becoming law.
