| AN ACT concerning education.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 |
| 2-3.137 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (105 ILCS 5/2-3.137 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 2-3.137. School health recognition program. The State |
| 8 |
| Board of Education shall establish a school health recognition |
| 9 |
| program that: |
| 10 |
| (1) publicly identifies those schools that have |
| 11 |
| implemented programs to increase the level of physical |
| 12 |
| activity of their students; |
| 13 |
| (2) publicly identifies those schools that have |
| 14 |
| adopted policies or implemented programs to promote |
| 15 |
| healthy nutritional choices for their students; and |
| 16 |
| (3) allows recognized schools to share best practices |
| 17 |
| and model services with other schools throughout the State.

| 18 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 19 |
| becoming law.
