| AN ACT concerning elections.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 |
| 7-10.2 as follows:
|

| (10 ILCS 5/7-10.2) (from Ch. 46, par. 7-10.2)

| Sec. 7-10.2. In the
the designation of the name of a |

| candidate on a petition for
nomination or certificate of |

| nomination the candidate's given name or
names, initial or |
| 10 |
| initials, a nickname by which the candidate is
commonly known, |

| or a combination thereof, may be used in addition to the
|
| 12 |
| candidate's surname. No other designation such as a political |
| 13 |
| slogan, as
defined by Section 7-17, title or degree, or
|
| 14 |
| nickname suggesting or implying possession of a title, degree |
| 15 |
| or professional
status, or similar information may be used in |
| 16 |
| connection with the candidate's
surname, except that the title |
| 17 |
| "Mrs." may be used in the case of a
married woman. |
