| AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2708

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2708, AS AMENDED, by |

| replacing everything after the enacting clause with the |
| 4 |
| following:

| "Section 5. The Compensation Review Act is amended by |
| 6 |
| adding
Section 5.6 as follows:
|
| 7 |
| (25 ILCS 120/5.6 new)
|
| 8 |
| Sec. 5.6. FY07 COLA's prohibited. Notwithstanding any |
| 9 |
| provision of this
Act, any other law, or any
resolution of the |
| 10 |
| General Assembly to the contrary,
members of the General
|
| 11 |
| Assembly, State's attorneys, other
than the county supplement, |
| 12 |
| the elected constitutional officers of State
government, and |
| 13 |
| certain appointed officers of State government, including
|
| 14 |
| members of State departments, agencies, boards, and |
| 15 |
| commissions whose annual
compensation is determined by the |
| 16 |
| Board, are prohibited from receiving and
shall not receive any
|
| 17 |
| increase in compensation based on a cost of living adjustment, |
| 18 |
| as authorized by
Senate Joint Resolution 192 of the
86th |
| 19 |
| General Assembly, for or during the fiscal year beginning July |
| 20 |
| 1, 2006. The prohibition under this Section does not apply to |
| 21 |
| judges.

| 22 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 23 |
| becoming law.".
