410 ILCS 80/4.5 new










    Amends the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act. Provides that smoking is prohibited in any portion of a building used in whole or in part as a student dormitory that is owned and operated or otherwise utilized by a public or private institution of higher education. Effective immediately.

    AN ACT concerning health.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act is amended  by 
5
adding Section 4.5 as follows:

    (410 ILCS 80/4.5  new)

    Sec. 4.5. Smoking prohibited in student dormitories. 
8
Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, smoking is 
9
prohibited in any portion of a building used in whole or in 
10
part as a student dormitory that is owned and operated or 
11
otherwise utilized by a public or private institution of higher 
12
education.

    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
14
becoming law.
