| AMENDED, by replacing the third Whereas clause with the |

| following:

| "WHEREAS, Thirty years ago only a handful of prisoners in |

| Illinois served sentences longer than 30 years; this year |
| 7 |
| approximately 4,000 Illinois prisoners have sentences of 30 |
| 8 |
| years or more, including C number prisoners, amounting to about |
| 9 |
| 10% of all Illinois prisoners; and"; and
|
| 10 |
| in the first Resolved clause by changing "16 members" to "17 |
| 11 |
| members"; and
|
| 12 |
| in the first Resolved clause, in item (9), by deleting "and"; |
| 13 |
| and
|
| 14 |
| in the first Resolved clause, in item (10), by replacing "be it |
| 15 |
| further" with the following: |
| 16 |
| "(11) One member appointed by the Director of Corrections; |
| 17 |
| and be it further
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, That the Department of Corrections shall provide |
| 19 |
| staff and administrative support to the Committee; and be it |
