| HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, It is one of the privileges of the General |
| 3 |
| Assembly to pay due honor and respect to persons who devote |
| 4 |
| their lives to the protection and service of the general |
| 5 |
| public; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Deputy Craig A. Dorwart of Waverly was killed in a |
| 7 |
| traffic accident on April 5, 1994, while on duty as an |
| 8 |
| undercover narcotics officer for the Morgan County Sheriff's |
| 9 |
| Office; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Deputy Dorwart had served as a member of the |
| 11 |
| Waverly Fire and Rescue Squad before becoming a Morgan County |
| 12 |
| deputy on October 22, 1985; he always felt a duty to help those |
| 13 |
| in need; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, A section of Illinois Route 104 extends between |
| 15 |
| Waverly and Jacksonville, the county seat of Morgan County; |
| 16 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 18 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE |
| 19 |
| SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that the section of Illinois Route |
| 20 |
| 104 between Waverly and Jacksonville be designated the Deputy |
| 21 |
| Craig A. Dorwart Memorial Highway; and be it further
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, That the Department of Transportation is |
| 23 |
| requested to erect, at suitable locations, consistent with |
| 24 |
| State regulations, appropriate plaques or signs giving notice |
| 25 |
| of the name; and be it further
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of |
| 28 |
| Transportation, to Morgan County Sheriff James Robson, Jr., and |
| 29 |
| to the family of Deputy Craig A. Dorwart.
