| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Illinois has several programs that offer |
| 3 |
| assistance in purchasing prescription drugs to senior |
| 4 |
| citizens, including the pharmaceutical assistance program |
| 5 |
| under the Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax |
| 6 |
| Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act and the Senior |
| 7 |
| Citizens and Disabled Persons Prescription Drug Discount |
| 8 |
| Program; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The proliferation of prescription drug assistance |
| 10 |
| programs is likely to result in confusion among senior citizens |
| 11 |
| who may be eligible for those programs; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Senior citizens who may be eligible for one or |
| 13 |
| more of the prescription drug assistance programs may need help |
| 14 |
| in understanding the benefits and eligibility requirements for |
| 15 |
| the programs and in comparing the relative advantages and |
| 16 |
| disadvantages of each program; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The Department on Aging is in a position to help |
| 18 |
| senior citizens understand the prescription drug programs that |
| 19 |
| are available in Illinois and to help them make decisions about |
| 20 |
| applying for and receiving benefits under the programs; |
| 21 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 24 |
| we encourage the Department on Aging to develop a streamlined |
| 25 |
| program to help Illinois senior citizens understand the various |
| 26 |
| prescription drug assistance programs that are available to |
| 27 |
| them in this State; and be it further
|
| 28 |
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be delivered to |
| 29 |
| the Director of Aging.
