| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The Meals on Wheels Association of America created |
| 3 |
| the March for Meals Campaign in 2002 to call attention to the |
| 4 |
| problem of senior hunger in America; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, In March of 1972, the law was enacted to include |
| 6 |
| senior meal programs in the Older Americans Act; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The slogan "So No Senior Goes Hungry" is the |
| 8 |
| rallying cry of the campaign and the Association; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The three goals of the March for Meals Campaign |
| 10 |
| are to raise awareness about senior hunger, recruit new |
| 11 |
| volunteers to join in the fight against senior hunger, and to |
| 12 |
| raise money on the local level; therefore, be it
|
| 13 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 14 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 15 |
| the month of March shall be known as March for Meals in honor |
| 16 |
| of the citizens of the State of Illinois.
