| WHEREAS, Richard Nardini will be retiring from the Leyden |
| 3 |
| High School District 212 School Board after 36 years on the |
| 4 |
| board; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Nardini first won election to the school board |
| 6 |
| in 1969; he has served as president of the board for the past |
| 7 |
| 29 years, and even before becoming president, he took an active |
| 8 |
| position in all decisions made by the Leyden Board of |
| 9 |
| Education; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Nardini has been head of the Board of |
| 11 |
| Education longer than any other president in the history of |
| 12 |
| Leyden, providing thoughtful and effective leadership for 36 |
| 13 |
| years; he is a 1952 Leyden graduate, and all five of his |
| 14 |
| children graduated from East Leyden; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, He has been diligent in his leadership of the |
| 16 |
| school management team; he would continually study information |
| 17 |
| about the schools, attend conferences sponsored by the Illinois |
| 18 |
| and National Associations of School Boards, and has always been |
| 19 |
| a perceptive listener to suggestion from parents, staff, and |
| 20 |
| community members; he has been the chief negotiator for the |
| 21 |
| board, working to establish constructive teacher union |
| 22 |
| contracts; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, In 1992, Mr. Nardini was honored to be given the |
| 24 |
| Thomas Lay Burroughs Award for the State's Outstanding School |
| 25 |
| Board President; in 2004, at commencement ceremonies, he handed |
| 26 |
| a diploma to the last of his grandchildren living in District |
| 27 |
| 212; and
|
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, This summer, he celebrates his 55th year as an |
| 29 |
| employee of the Chicago Sun-Times, currently serving as the |
| 30 |
| director of classified advertising; he has been married to his |
