HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, USAF Cpt. Todd Bracy of Thetford, England,
3 formerly of Murphysboro, was killed March 31, 2005, when his
4 aircraft crashed in a mountainous area of Albania; he was one
5 of two pilots and seven other airmen aboard the MC-130H Combat
6 Talon II; and
 
7     WHEREAS, His C-130 military transport was assigned to the
8 352nd Special Operations Group based in Royal Air Force
9 Mildenhall, England; the unit has been active in military and
10 humanitarian efforts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, and various
11 African nations; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Cpt. Bracy was born on July 16, 1970, in
13 Landstuhl, Germany, to Lt. Col. (USAF Retired) Ronald L. Bracy
14 and Judith R. Bracy; he graduated from Murphysboro High School
15 in 1988 and Norwich Military College in Vermont in 1992; he
16 enlisted in the 120th Fighter Wing, Illinois Air National
17 Guard, in Springfield as a weapons loader; and
 
18     WHEREAS, While in the 120th Fighter Wing, he attended and
19 graduated from the Southern Illinois University Flight School;
20 he was selected to enter the US Air Force Officer Training
21 School and, later, pilot school; he graduated from pilot school
22 at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi, in 1998 and was
23 assigned to fly C-21s at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska; and
 
24     WHEREAS, Following a three-year tour at Offutt, Cpt. Bracy
25 was assigned to the 7th Special Operations Squadron in Royal
26 Air Force in Mildenhall; and
 
27     WHEREAS, Cpt. Bracy was known as "T-Bone" within his unit;
28 he will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of flying,
29 and attention to detail; and

1     WHEREAS, During the Iraqi War, he was awarded the
2 Distinguished Flying Cross for heroic action to complete a
3 dangerous mission; he was posthumously awarded the Meritorious
4 Service Medal for his dedication to duty in the service of the
5 United States; and
 
6     WHEREAS, He is survived by his wife, Tina (nee Kolberer);
7 his children, Tess and Tate; his parents; his sister, Tonya Y.
8 Wood (husband David); and his nephews, Thaddeus, Taylor, and
9 Timothy Wood; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12 together with his family, friends, and the citizens of this
13 State and this great nation, we mourn the passing of USAF Cpt.
14 Todd Bracy and extend to his family our sincerest condolences;
15 and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
18 sympathy.
