| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The week of May 6, 2005, through May 12, 2005, |
| 3 |
| will be celebrated as National Nurses Week; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, National Nurses Week honors the nurses across the |
| 5 |
| entire country that care for our men, women, and children |
| 6 |
| through all stages of health and illness; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, There are approximately 146,000 registered nurses |
| 8 |
| in the State of Illinois who provide highly skilled, quality |
| 9 |
| care in a variety of settings, and who encounter increased |
| 10 |
| challenges to their professional and ethical commitment to |
| 11 |
| deliver essential health care; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, The purpose of National Nurses Week is to raise |
| 13 |
| public awareness of the value of nursing and to help educate |
| 14 |
| the public about the vital role registered nurses play in |
| 15 |
| meeting the health care needs of the American people; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, On Saturday, May 7, 2005, the Illinois Nurses |
| 17 |
| Association will hold its second annual celebration, including |
| 18 |
| a parade and Nurses Day Rally to be held in Chicago; therefore, |
| 19 |
| be it
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we honor the nurses of the State of Illinois for their endless |
| 23 |
| hours of devotion to the needs of men, women, and children |
| 24 |
| throughout Illinois on the occasion of National Nurses Week; |
| 25 |
| and be it further
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to the Illinois Nurses Association as an expression |
| 28 |
| of our respect and esteem for all those in the nursing |
| 29 |
| profession.
