| WHEREAS, Marilyn Kay Johnson of Macomb is retiring from her |
| 3 |
| position as Executive Secretary to the President/Secretary to |
| 4 |
| the Board of Trustees at Western Illinois University in Macomb |
| 5 |
| after nearly 40 years of service; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, She was born on May 27, 1946, in Rushville; she |
| 7 |
| graduated from V.I.T. High School in Table Grove in 1964 and |
| 8 |
| received a 2-Year Executive Secretary diploma from Midstate |
| 9 |
| College of Commerce in Peoria in 1965; she married W. Garry |
| 10 |
| Johnson on June 25, 1989; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, In her current position as Executive Secretary, |
| 12 |
| under supervision from the President and the Trustees, Mrs. |
| 13 |
| Johnson is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance |
| 14 |
| of the President's and Trustees' office, which requires the |
| 15 |
| development, initiation, delegation, and coordination of work |
| 16 |
| flow, assignments, and production; she makes decisions which |
| 17 |
| represent the University, the President, and the Board on |
| 18 |
| matters of importance and sensitivity to the institution; she |
| 19 |
| works directly with the President and the Trustees, campus |
| 20 |
| constituency groups, and community, regional, State, and other |
| 21 |
| contacts to promote the objectives of the President and his |
| 22 |
| office; and she deals with a complexity of campus operation |
| 23 |
| concerns and as related to the University, community, regional, |
| 24 |
| State, national, and International concerns; and |
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, Prior to working in her current position, she |
| 26 |
| worked as a Clerk Stenographer and Personnel Assistant at |
| 27 |
| Western, beginning in 1965; and |
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, She is active in both her community and in |
| 29 |
| professional organizations and serves on the McDonough County |
| 30 |
| 708 Board of Directors, the Western Athletic Club Board of |
| 31 |
| Directors, and is a member of the WIU University Women's Club, |
