| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Grant Norman, a senior at Jamaica High School, is |
| 3 |
| this year's recipient of the John Dickson Sportsmanship Award; |
| 4 |
| and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The award is given annually to a Vermilion County |
| 6 |
| athlete in each sport of boys' basketball, girls' basketball, |
| 7 |
| football, and volleyball; a team award is also given in each |
| 8 |
| sport; it was started in 1976 by Fairmount native John Dickson, |
| 9 |
| who was born in 1914 and was a graduate of Fairmount High |
| 10 |
| School; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Grant received the award as a Salt Fork football |
| 12 |
| player; he played for the Storm for four years as a defensive |
| 13 |
| tackle; he received All-Conference, All-County Honorable |
| 14 |
| Mention his junior year, and was All-Conference, All-County |
| 15 |
| First Team this year; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Nominations for the sportsmanship award come from |
| 17 |
| coaches; a committee of 12 people made up of local news |
| 18 |
| writers, radio personalities who broadcast games, game |
| 19 |
| officials, and three county superintendents select the winner; |
| 20 |
| and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Grant is the son of Greg and Julie Norman; |
| 22 |
| therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 24 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 25 |
| we congratulate Grant Norman on being this year's recipient of |
| 26 |
| the John Dickson Sportsmanship Award; and be it further
|
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 28 |
| presented to Grant Norman as an expression of our respect and |
| 29 |
| esteem.
