| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Illinois is home to five major military bases: |
| 3 |
| Rock Island Arsenal, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois Air |
| 4 |
| National Guard posts in Springfield and Peoria, and the Great |
| 5 |
| Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, These bases provide direct or indirect employment |
| 7 |
| to more than 72,000 people and have an estimated annual |
| 8 |
| economic impact of about $2.7 billion; therefore, be it
|
| 9 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 10 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 11 |
| we urge President George W. Bush and the Congress of the United |
| 12 |
| States of America to allow the military bases located in the |
| 13 |
| State of Illinois to remain open; and be it further
|
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 15 |
| presented to President George W. Bush, the President pro |
| 16 |
| tempore of the U.S. Senate, the Speaker of the U.S. House of |
| 17 |
| Representatives, and to each member of the Illinois |
| 18 |
| Congressional Delegation.
