| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois join Representative Monique Davis in |
| 4 |
| congratulating Shirley A. Chapman, Principal of Esmond |
| 5 |
| Elementary School, on the occasion of her retirement after 34 |
| 6 |
| years of service to the Chicago Public Schools; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Chapman began her teaching career at Grissom |
| 8 |
| Elementary and continued with 20 years of service at Scanlan |
| 9 |
| Elementary (now Songhai Learning Institute); and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, She entered administration in 1995, when she |
| 11 |
| became assistant principal at Songhai Learning Institute, |
| 12 |
| followed by assistant principal assignments at Curtis |
| 13 |
| Elementary and Corliss High School; in 2001, Ms. Chapman became |
| 14 |
| interim principal at Esmond Elementary and is now culminating |
| 15 |
| her career as contract principal of Esmond Elementary; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, During her career, Ms. Chapman strived to utilize |
| 17 |
| a variety of skills and aptitudes, including her talent for |
| 18 |
| working with others and her endeavors to influence, motivate, |
| 19 |
| and train others to do their very best; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, She has been an ardent community worker and has |
| 21 |
| previously served as an officer with JRW Little League Baseball |
| 22 |
| as well as the Chicago Area Alliance of Black School Educators; |
| 23 |
| she is the proud mother of Brian Lamont Chapman and is looking |
| 24 |
| forward to devoting quality time to her entire family; |
| 25 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |

| we congratulate Shirley A. Chapman on the occasion of her |
| 29 |
| retirement, and we thank her for the many years she has devoted |
| 30 |
| to the education of young people in our State; and be it |
