| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, George Capps, assistant superintendent of |
| 3 |
| curriculum and instruction for Plainfield School District, |
| 4 |
| will retire June 30, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Capps started teaching in 1972 in Cook |
| 6 |
| County's Sandridge School District, where he taught social |
| 7 |
| studies, science, and reading in sixth, seventh, and eighth |
| 8 |
| grades; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He made the transition to Plainfield, serving as |
| 10 |
| principal of Indian Trail Middle School from 1988 to 2000; he |
| 11 |
| then served as director of staff development from 2000 to 2003; |
| 12 |
| he was promoted to his current position in June 2003;
he is an |
| 13 |
| adjunct instructor at the University of St. Francis where he |
| 14 |
| plans to teach during retirement; he also plans to continue |
| 15 |
| consultation at Will County Regional Office of Professional |
| 16 |
| Development Alliance; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Capps is known for using only research-based |
| 18 |
| practices that are best for students and is a strong proponent |
| 19 |
| of the middle school concept; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, He brought a high degree of professionalism to the |
| 21 |
| district and got everyone to read more about their practice and |
| 22 |
| craft; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, He mentored teachers; his philosophy was all about |
| 24 |
| people-building, he was a "servant leader"; as the leader |
| 25 |
| exits, there are other leaders and that is a big
part of his |
| 26 |
| legacy; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
