| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Throughout her three years at Thompson Junior |
| 3 |
| High, Lauren Schlaker has consistently exhibited a mature and |
| 4 |
| positive influence that makes the people and places around her |
| 5 |
| stronger and better; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Schlaker's leadership lights up the |
| 7 |
| classroom, the volleyball or basketball courts, the Science |
| 8 |
| Olympiad forum, and National Junior Honor Society; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Her leadership is unique; she sets the tone for a |
| 10 |
| group of people through her wise, level-headed responses to |
| 11 |
| situations; she is able to see the bigger picture while |
| 12 |
| simultaneously taking into consideration the perspectives of |
| 13 |
| others; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, She is the treasurer of Thompson Junior High's |
| 15 |
| National Junior Honor Society chapter, which is composed of |
| 16 |
| students who exhibit outstanding scholarship, leadership, |
| 17 |
| character, service, and citizenship; even though she is an |
| 18 |
| elected officer, she was part of the committee that organized a |
| 19 |
| special Veteran's Day program at Thompson last fall; as the |
| 20 |
| committee worked on the details for the program, she humbly |
| 21 |
| allowed the committee chairs to take the leadership reins; |
| 22 |
| however, at critical moments, she would mention an idea or ask |
| 23 |
| a key question that would guide the group to a new way of |
| 24 |
| thinking; the group never realized how crucial her timely |
| 25 |
| interventions were in their planning process; and
|
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, She really thinks on the basketball court and she |
| 27 |
| is willing to pass the ball; it doesn't matter which "court" |
| 28 |
| Ms. Schlaker is on, because she is always unselfishly doing her |
| 29 |
| best to help the team; therefore, be it
