| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Eric Lifka, a third grader at St. Rita of Cascia |
| 3 |
| Elementary School, was named the Grade 3 National Handwriting |
| 4 |
| Champion in the National Handwriting Contest, sponsored by |
| 5 |
| Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, In order to win the honor, Eric competed against |
| 7 |
| 140,000 other children from all over the country; the award |
| 8 |
| comes with a plaque, a medal, a $500 savings bond, and a |
| 9 |
| Fischer Price Learning System; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, He also won T-shirts for the entire third-grade |
| 11 |
| class, and in honor of his award, the school celebrated "Hooray |
| 12 |
| for Good Handwriting Day"; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, The contest has run for 14 years and judges first |
| 14 |
| through eighth students' handwriting on four criteria: |
| 15 |
| legibility, slant, spacing, and size; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 |
| we congratulate Eric Lifka on being named the Grade 3 National |
| 19 |
| Handwriting Champion in the National Handwriting Contest, |
| 20 |
| sponsored by Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers; and be it |
| 21 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

| presented to Eric Lifka as an expression of our respect and |

| esteem.
