HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On Saturday, June 18, 2005, Dr. Carl L. White, Jr., will be elevated to the office of Apostle in a Consecration Service to be held at New Mount Olive Baptist Church in Harvey; and

WHEREAS, He is the founder and pastor of Victory Christian Assembly Church; born in Winchester, Arkansas, and raised on the Westside of Chicago, his formal educational background includes certification as an Evangelical Teacher, Malcolm X College, the U.S. Army Training Institute, Chicago Baptist Institute, and Gospel Ministry Outreach Theological Institute; and

WHEREAS, As an evangelist, Apostle White has traveled throughout the continental U.S. as well as internationally; his vision of evangelism and "Ministry of the Total Man" reaches out through programs and collaborative efforts with the community; and

WHEREAS, Programs he and the church have sponsored include support for welfare recipients and first-time, non-violent offenders, after school tutorial and life skills enhancement programs, Toys for Tots and an Angel Tree program, health care and prevention seminars, and numerous other initiatives; and

WHEREAS, Dr. White has worked with many civic, community, and religious leaders internationally, nationally, and locally; his professional affiliations include: Cook County Clergy United; District Overseer, the South Suburban Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship; member, Illinois Baptist State Association; member, Chicago Metropolitan Baptist Association; Vice-President, The Pastors Network; Department of Health and Human Services African American Healthy Marriage Initiative; South Cook Ministerial Healthcare Network; member, Cook County Adult Council - National Institute of Corrections - Community Corrections Division/Administrative Office of Illinois Courts - Probation Department; and as chairman, advisory member, or member of many other organizations with community outreach goals; and

WHEREAS, Apostle White is also widely known for ministering in song; his latest recording of the CD "According to My Faith" features him both as soloist and writer; and

WHEREAS, Apostle Carl L. White, Jr., is married to Lady Pamela White and is the father of seven children; they reside in suburban Chicago and are the grandparents to eight grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Carl L. White, Jr., on being elevated to the office of Apostle, and we wish him well in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. White as an expression of our respect and esteem.
