| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The congregation of First Baptist Church of |
| 3 |
| Maryville is celebrating the church's 60th anniversary on July |
| 4 |
| 10,
2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, First Baptist Church has a rich history and an |
| 6 |
| exciting future; church attendance has grown from an average |
| 7 |
| attendance of 32 in 1987 to almost 1,000 today; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, The church began at 209 East Main Street and was |
| 9 |
| officially organized on March 4, 1945; in 1987, the church |
| 10 |
| relocated to 6 acres at 2184 Vadalabene Drive; its present |
| 11 |
| location, 35 acres at 7110 Illinois State Route 162, was |
| 12 |
| purchased in 1995; its first service on July 9, 2000, drew over |
| 13 |
| 1,200 attendees; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, The one thing that makes the church special is the |
| 15 |
| people; from the caring staff to the friendliness of its |
| 16 |
| diverse congregation, First Baptist is committed to truly being |
| 17 |
| a family in Christ; therefore, be it
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 19 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 20 |
| we congratulate the congregation of First Baptist Church of |
| 21 |
| Maryville on the happy occasion of
the church's 60th |
| 22 |
| anniversary and thank Pastor Fred Winters and his wife, Cindy, |
| 23 |
| for their many
years of inspirational service to the community; |
| 24 |
| and be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
|
| 26 |
| presented to First Baptist Church of Maryville as an expression |
| 27 |
| of our
respect and esteem.
