| WHEREAS, In the first-ever all-Southland baseball state |

| championship, the Porters of Lockport High School defeated the |
| 4 |
| Mount Carmel Caravan 8-4 on June 11, 2005, in Geneva, giving |
| 5 |
| the Porters their first state baseball championship; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The Porters decisively defeated Barrington 15-1, |
| 7 |
| winning the opportunity to battle Mount Carmel for the |
| 8 |
| championship; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The Porters were led offensively by left fielder |
| 10 |
| Eric Sternberg who was 6 for 8 for the day with a record-tying |
| 11 |
| 10 runs batted in; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, The Porters were perhaps the best offensive team |
| 13 |
| in the Southland this year, never scoring fewer than two runs |
| 14 |
| in a game all year; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Among the leading offensive players were Nick |
| 16 |
| Mitidiero, Jake Christensen, and Matt Otteman, the 2005 Daily |
| 17 |
| Southtown player of the year; and
|

| WHEREAS, The Porters were led by Coach Jim Hall in his |
| 19 |
| fifteenth season at the helm, and by assistant coaches Butch |

| Markelz, Lee Turnbough, Steve Stanicek, Andy Satunas, Dave |

| Jeglinski, Ken Dobson, Matt Bartley, Kendall Hutchinson, Dan |

| Blaskovitz, and Frank Popek; and

| WHEREAS, The Porters are managed by Adam Marzec; the team |
