| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The congregation of Sharon United Methodist |
| 3 |
| Church in Plainfield will celebrate the church's 150th |
| 4 |
| anniversary on November 6, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The day of celebration will begin with a special |
| 6 |
| worship service, followed by a coffee hour; photo albums, |
| 7 |
| artifacts, and posters will be on display featuring the church, |
| 8 |
| the pastors, the congregation, and Plainfield through the |
| 9 |
| years; an afternoon German heritage-themed potluck dinner will |
| 10 |
| be followed by a skit performed by the Sunday School children; |
| 11 |
| and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Sharon Church has graced the corner of Lockport |
| 13 |
| and Dillman Streets from 1855 to 2005; under the pastoral care |
| 14 |
| of ministers "Father" Daniel Shreffler to Rev. Doug Booth, the |
| 15 |
| congregation has changed from Evangelical to Evangelical |
| 16 |
| United Brethren to United Methodist; the sanctuary and altar |
| 17 |
| have changed many times as well; stained glass windows now |
| 18 |
| grace every sunlit opening along with the bell tower; |
| 19 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we congratulate the congregation of Sharon United Methodist |
| 23 |
| Church on the happy occasion of the church's 150th anniversary; |
| 24 |
| and be it further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 26 |
| presented to Sharon United Methodist Church as an expression of |
| 27 |
| our respect and esteem.
