| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The Village of Lindenhurst, in Lake County, is a |
| 3 |
| beautiful, family-oriented community with a great spirit of |
| 4 |
| service and pride; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The Village of Lindenhurst, in Lake County, will |
| 6 |
| celebrate its Golden Anniversary of incorporation as a Village |
| 7 |
| in 2006; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, The Village is desirous of enhancing the |
| 9 |
| environment of its community through landscaping and other |
| 10 |
| natural beautifications; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The golden daffodil was declared Lindenhurst's |
| 12 |
| official flower by resolution in September and the village is |
| 13 |
| requesting a similar state resolution; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Proclaiming the golden daffodil as the official |
| 15 |
| flower will promote community pride and engage citizens in a |
| 16 |
| common community project; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Daffodils are early blooming plants and continue |
| 18 |
| to self propagate, making it an ideal low maintenance flower |
| 19 |
| for the village; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Four thousand bags of daffodils have been |
| 21 |
| distributed among every household in Lindenhurst, with village |
| 22 |
| officials asking residents to plant the bulbs they receive to |
| 23 |
| make a golden carpet of flowers in the spring of 2006; and |
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, Lindenhurst would like to be known as the daffodil |
| 25 |
| capital of Illinois; and |
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, This is a great example of community spirit for |
| 27 |
| other Illinois communities to follow; and
